The Shannon
Its the longest river in Ireland,
A lovely sight to see.
Swans gliding along the water,
moving so swift and free.
One of my favourite places,
Is the lovely Rooskey loch.
Listening to the lapping of the water,
As the boats sway and rock.
The waters of the Shannon,
Are beautiful but deep.
So if your sailing on a boat,
Caution you must keep.
From its source to its estuary,
When it reaches the sea.
Its beauty and its danger,
Everyone can see.
Lakes:Allen, Derg and Ree,
Are so beautiful to see.
Standing on a boats bridge,
Or sitting in a tree.
Connlas Well is its source,
Then it stedily takes its course.
South through villages and towns,
Many places of renown.
This river of dreams,
Flows on forever.
Wandering and meandering,
With constant endevour. |
The Shannon
The Shannon is a glorious sight,
To sail along it is pure delight.
Flowing so fast and sometimes slow,
The current can be friend or foe.
The children have fun here,
Running around.
When they’re laughing and smiling,
And shouting aloud.
The birds fly around here,
Chirping with pride.
Gliding in the air,
Flying side by side. |
