Cloontuskert National School
Cloontuskert school is situated near the banks of the River Shannon.

It opened because of a Bórd na Móna development. 70 houses were built for the workers who came from all over the country.
The school opened on the 30/9/55. Before it was a school, it used to be a shop. Cloontuskert was then a 2 teacher school. There were 34 children attending the school at that time. The new school opened on the 7/9/98. Today there are 65 children in the school.

The teachers are Mr. Henry{Principal}, Mrs. Brennan {Deputy Principal}, Mrs. Nohilly {Assistant}, Mrs.McGeoy {Remedial Teacher}, Mrs. Mc Conn {Resource Teacher}. We were awarded a Green School flag in the year 2000,which means that we are an environmentally friendly school. We recycle our paper and if we can't we shred it and give it to Mr.Tucker who uses it as bedding for his greyhounds. We also have a compost heap. We put fruit skins, grass and sometimes paper into it. Our sports are Gaelic, basketball and soccer. In Gaelic we were very successful, we have won 3 county finals. We sometimes get P.E. We get taught music by Mrs.Hanly every Thursday. We are all very proud of our school.
